Privacy Policy
Last updated October 15, 2026
Overview
This policy explains what Midoka (“we”, “us”) collects, how it is used, and the choices you have. We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising. See also our Notice at Collection and Your Privacy Choices.
What we collect today
Midoka currently works without accounts. The lists, shelf, figurines, favorites, friends, messages, comments and settings you create are stored in your browser on your device. They are not sent to our servers.
When you browse titles or search, your browser sends requests to AniList to fetch anime and manga information. AniList receives your search terms, your IP address and standard browser details under its own privacy policy. When you open Midoka News, our server fetches headlines from public news feeds on your behalf.
Our hosting provider (Vercel) may log standard technical data such as IP address, browser type and pages requested to deliver and secure the site.
When accounts launch
If we add accounts and sync, we will collect what you provide, such as your email address, username, profile details, lists and messages, along with basic device and usage data needed to run the service. We will update this policy and give notice before that happens.
How we use information
- To provide and improve the features you use
- To keep the service secure and prevent abuse
- To respond to your requests and support messages
- To meet legal obligations
Optional analytics
Usage analytics are off by default. If you turn them on in Settings, we collect aggregate usage data to improve the app. It never includes the contents of your lists or messages.
Sharing
We do not sell personal information. We share information only with service providers that host and operate the service on our behalf, to comply with law, or with your direction (for example, content you choose to share with friends).
Your California privacy rights
Under the California Consumer Privacy Act as amended by the CPRA, California residents have the right to:
- Know what personal information we collect, use and disclose
- Access a copy of it
- Correct inaccurate information
- Delete personal information
- Opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information
- Limit the use of sensitive personal information
- Non-discrimination for exercising these rights
You can use most of these rights yourself in Midoka under Settings → Data Rights & Legal. You can also submit a request on our privacy requests page or email privacy@midoka.app. We will confirm your request and respond within 45 days. An authorized agent may submit requests for you.
We treat a browser Global Privacy Control signal as a request to opt out of sale and sharing.
Other US states
Residents of Colorado, Connecticut, Virginia, Utah, Texas, Oregon, Montana and other states with comprehensive privacy laws have similar rights to access, correct, delete and port their data and to opt out of targeted advertising, sale and profiling. Use the same controls or email us. If we deny a request you may appeal by replying to our response, and you may contact your state attorney general.
Children and teens
Midoka is not directed to children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect their personal information. If you are under 18, turn on Teen safety mode in Settings: your profile becomes friends-only, friend requests and activity sharing are turned off, and analytics are disabled. Parents who believe a child has given us information can email privacy@midoka.app.
Retention and security
Data stored in your browser stays until you delete it or clear site data. We use HTTPS and reputable hosting providers. No method of storage or transmission is completely secure.
Changes
We will post changes here and update the date above. For material changes we will give additional notice.
